• Carefully follow all the test registration procedures to ensure that you register for the correct tests
  • Don’t cram the night before; set up a study schedule at least 4-6 weeks before the test date
  • Find a study partner or group to study with
  • Get plenty of sleep (at least 8 hours) the night before
  • Eat a healthy breakfast (like whole grain cereals, skim milk, fresh fruit, or toast with peanut butter)
  • Dress comfortably in layers
  • Make sure to leave plenty of time to get to the testing center so you arrive relaxed and on time
  • Bring your printed admission ticket, several sharpened No. 2 pencils (for paper-based tests), and one piece of current, government-issued photo identification in the name in which you registered to the testing center (see ILTS site for more information on proper identification)
  • Bring a set of ear plugs in case the testing center is noisy
  • Know the test directions, duration, topics, question types, and number of questions
  • Be careful! Read directions and questions closely and make sure your answers are neat and clear
  • Guess wisely and choose the best answer
  • Pace yourself; don’t rush, but keep working and move on if you get stuck
  • Stay positive even if the test is going poorly
  • Check your work; use any extra time to go back and ensure you have marked your answers accurately
  • When you receive your test results, submit to AUSL Admissions at admissions@auslchicago.org as soon as possible.
